About Jennifer Woods

My career as Owner and Designer of Jennifer Woods Jewelry began nearly twenty years ago when I taught myself how to make jewelry. I started by stringing semiprecious stones and sterling silver, but over the years my curiosity has led me to discover a host of other materials, including freshwater pearls, glass, brass, wood, bone, and other natural elements. I begin each piece by drawing inspiration from the natural world, adding components that harmonize with my vision.

Creating jewelry allows me to uniquely engage my senses. As I string each bead along the wire, I savor the colors. I feel the texture of each bead on my skin, and my eyes experience how that texture plays against the adjacent beads. As each bead slides into the next, the sound reminds me of its substance: the high clink of solid glass or stone, the low thud of a porous, natural wood bead. The blending of color, texture, and form creates a delicious pattern, and I delight in this sensual process of marrying beads in various colors, textures, sizes, and shapes to create a stylish accessory that serves the wearer in self-expression.

I’ve found inspiration from places as diverse as the materials I use, but, as a native Oklahoman, anything that reminds me of home moves me most: freshly tilled earth, the bright colors of spring flowers, golden wheat fields, grass prairies, and dusty sunsets. When I sift through my collection of gemstones, designing each piece of jewelry, I’m reminded of the natural beauty that surrounds me, of the land, and of my home.
